An interview you want to read with me...

Shalom ;)

Wow.
I can't believe I writing a blog for October month. This year passed to fast!
whatever... I guess it's a goo sign and means we all having a good time, hey?

So...Imagine some local newspaper here in cape town decide to interview us about Moishe House. Here is a fictive interview.

It goes like this:

Q: Hello. So what is it this Moishe House the whole Jewish community in Cape Town is talking about?
A: Hi. My name is Doron Moshe I am a member of Moishe House here in this city. I am living with another 3 members and our goal is is create a Jewish environment to young Jewish adults in Cape Town. I guess this also our mission statement.

Q: How do you do that?
A: I think the key is variety of Jewish events. It can be Tikun Olam when we go and help underprivileged communities. I can be Jewish Learning when we all discuss and analyze Jewish text on Shabbat or other Jewish holiday and it can be Jewish community event when we all gather to socialize and get to know each other.
It's good fun.

Q: wow! is it happening only in cape town?
A: No. It's an international organization. lots of different cities in the world.
Only here in South Africa we have 2 (the other one is in Joburg).

Q: I see. and what is the global mission statement of Moishe House?
A: To create Jewish environment to young Jewish adults in different places in the world.
Keep the Jewish people united.

Q: It's sounds bigger than what I thought. Where do you see Moishe House in the future?
A: Yeah. It is big.
I see Moishe House "conquer" many cities and communities in the world and add a unique flavour to the life of young adults all over the world.

Q: Amazing. Thank you so much for your time. you guys doing a great job.
A: Thank you ;)

What do you think? Maybe one day I will be famous...

Much Love,
Doron, Gabi and Ross

wash your plate!

Hey guys,

August was a great and packed month, so it's time to share... ;)

We had guest speakers, quiz, activities, ideological talks and lots of good time.
I think the best night we had was 'The amazing race'! We planted riddles all around Cape Town and the goal was to get all of them. was so fun and such a great turnout.

We had an issue,
Like I said this month was packed with events and lots of people came to the bayit, but as you guys know when everybody leaves the house look like a mess.

We didn't really like it and it's annoying to clean after people all the time.
So we decided that every time we having an event we get some people to stay for 5-10 min and help cleaning.
It's actually turned to be such a nice culture.
We put some music , chat with the moishehouse guests, bond with them and it's an opportunity to get feedback and to grow.

well, that's it for now.

Enjoy life,
Doron

NIce to be back :) July...

Hey Moishe people!

I was always wondered how many people in the world are reading our blogs.
Moishe House Capetown. If you are then hello :)
So..How can we sum up month July?

I must say that it was quite a different vibe during June- July in Moishe House and the young-adult Jewish community here in South Africa. Many people were on vacations and traveling around, taking a break from life ;)
Even I came back after a wonderful visit in Israel, Gabi got back after a long vacation in different areas in SA and Ross? he was chilling in his room.

Anyway, it was great to come back, see the Moishe House members and run events about Jewishness, Tikun Olam, Zionism and some classic fun.
It seems that people missed our usual Moishe gathering and there was a cool - fresh vibe in the air. Like I said, nice to be back :)

Capetown is quite rainy, but the summer is getting here..August is around, we have some nice ideas for the second half of year and we're ready to take MH Capetown another step forward!

Wish you all the best,
and if you still reading this blog then goodbye ;)

May - achla chodesh ;)

Hello Moishe house members

When I look back on the last month, I found it very inspiring.
Check the staff we had:
Brilliant lecture about South Africa after the new election and after Jacob Zuma became the president, The meaning of Tikun Olam and social action, an amazing guest speaker to come a talk about a fascinating organization called "voices of Rwanda" , report back from our friends who came back from Israel and their experiences, Tikun leili on Shavuot and many more.

Nice, hey?

And obviously we had some chilled friendly gathering as always.
can't complaint... ;)

Best event of the week goes to...
our lovely (and modest) 'Book Club'!
Every month we gather few of our friends for a chilled and interesting talks about our favorite books. Great vibe !

That's it for now chaverim,
Hope you all moishehousniks around the world are well ;)

Highlights of the month

Hello Moishe house ppl!!

Gabi and Ross were gone to Israel for a week and half.
Luckily,
Moishe house was busy than ever, and many friends came to chill and hang out so me and Dylan won't feel to longly ;)

It was a special month for me particularly as an Israeli.
It felt a bit weird to spend Yom Hazikaron (Israel memorial day for the fallen soldiers) and Yom Haatzmaut (Israel independence day) far away from home.

There are 2 highlights from this month:

The first one was an outreach.
We gathered many ppl to join a rally and support equal rights in South AFrica and fight agaist corrution and injustices.
Didn't think I will connect to that as this is not my country but I found it very inspiring.
The conversation after that and the talks about our roll as jews in world were fascinating.

The second one was a night we celebrated and marked Israek 61th year of independece.
We went over Israeli histoy by the music and songs that represented every period.
was soo cool.
Such a great vibe!!

Another fantastic month and it's only getting better !

My top 3 events

Shalom Moishehouseniks!

So what we had this month?
March was quite interesting..so here is my top 3 events:

1. The MASSIVE fire!!
If you haven't seen the pictures I recommend you all to Google it cause it was insane! and the reason I'm so excited is because it was about 100 meters from our house. A mountain called "Devils Pick" was blazing.
No joke, It looks like Armageddon.

2. The baboon..
Well, that happened actually today.
During the whole night we heard sirens of police cars and so during the morning. Well..we thought they looking for some criminal or something but they were actually trying to catch huge baboon that been jumping between the garden's houses (apparently, they can be aggressive).
Me and Ross got to see him today (With a police car behind him and a nature ranger). He is BIG!

3. We shopped.
Well.. maybe it's not that exciting as the previous events, but it was a great moment to the Moishe house members.
After a long while when we had no food, I did it (don't give me the credit, Gabi forced me). to be honest? life are much much better now...

Chag Pesach Sameach you all,

Doron Moshe

Hello Mioshe Houseniks

My name is Doron Moshe.
I use to live in Moish house Johannesburg last year and this year I moved to Moishehouse Capetown.
Well, if you never visited Capetown I can tell you it's a gorgeous place, so chilled and relaxed. Really enjoy it ;)

Well, we had an interesting month with cool events, talks, meeting of new ppl and awesome vibe. but I would like to talk a beat about us:the moishehouseniks.
I started a new rank among us called: "How good house mate are you?"
I can tell you that (for now) Gabi is on 1st place from the next reasons: amazing cooks..best food you'll ever had, no need to go to fency restaurants, organized, clean and most important always smile on her face.

Ross, Dylan and me are getting there but we need to up our game.
We started a new month now..promise to update you about that.

Things are cool, like I said at the begining, I love the house and the city and just trying to enjoy my last 3 month in South Africa before I am going back home to Israel.

Cheers everbody :)
